FG Intensive Care and Critical Illness

Targets and tasks

The FG pursues the scientific evaluation of "care structures, quality and long-term results of intensive care treatment" (which has not been systematically investigated so far) and initiates projects for this purpose. The following main topics are presented:

• Analysis of the structure of intensive care
• Quality of intensive care treatment, guidelines, evidence-based medicine
• Analysis of care processes after intensive care treatment
• Determinants of long-term outcome and health-related quality of life
• Determination of the need for special care offers after intensive treatment
• Identifying the needs of patients
• Discussion of health policy aspects
